Range Extension for the Syma X5SWSyma X5sw | Increased Range | Toy Grade
The major knock against a toy grade quadcopter is its inability to travel a decent distance before losing signal and falling from the sky or even worse flying away. The Syma X5SW boasts a range of 30 meters which translates into 90 feet. That may sound like a good distance but factor in WiFi interference and other limiting factors and your flight around the neighborhood to see the sunset just turned into a recovery mission from your neighbors yard. When operating a toy grade quadcopter losing signal is a right of passage. It will happen frequently and you will find yourself getting some extra steps in for the day as you chase after your quadcopter and try to close the distance gap between you and your RC quad so you can rebind the controller and regain control. The controller modification shown in the video can be done for around $15 and will give you the extra range you need to increase your confidence level as you transition up to a hobby or professional grade quadcopter. The Antenna Modification is free and very simple to do. All of the products used in this upgrade can be found by following the links provided.
